WMAN_NG - Your Smart City is all around you.

The project wants to create a metropolitan communication infrastructure, with very low energy consumption requirements, low bitrate and of universal access (thus enabling the implementation of M2M services, which tipically demand high network coverage).

The foundations for the creation of this infrastructure are:

(1) Universal coverage in metropolitan areas - with no exceptions

(2) Low energy consumption - sensors and actuators must be very efficient

(3) Low communication rate

(4) Complete interoperability

As a result, the main challenge is to determine the adequate level of commitment in terms of the network infrastructure (capillary networks) that will enable both universal coverage and low-energy consumption from the endpoints.
